Reza Afisina used a pocket-sized video camera and a cellphone to make this portrait of one day in his life. Details of the artist’s environment are revealed as he leaves his house in Depok, West Java, to make the journey to ruangrupa in Jakarta, where his office and studio are located. The artist takes advantage of filming on a Friday, when Muslim men gather for midday prayer, to record part of local culture. The video contrasts the bustle of Jakarta with the artist’s small, quiet “second home.”
