In this video, Tayeba Begum Lipi introduces viewers to her practice and milieu. Describing herself as having become a “person from Dhaka City,” she recounts the transition from Gaibandha, the village of her birth, to living in a major metropolitan center. She discusses the Britto Arts Trust, which administers a local network of studios, and describes her own practice. Lipi’s current object-based work is a self-critical exploration of personal and political issues, and of the female body and mind.
