Everything is Museum
February 2008
Download: "Everything Is Museum" (12.9 MB, audio only, 14 min. 6 sec.)
The latest Guggenheim Museum podcast focuses on Cai Guo-Qiang's Everything Is Museum, a series of contemporary art installations in nontraditional sites such as military bunkers and under bridges. Concurrent with the Guggenheim retrospective Cai Guo-Qiang: I Want to Believe, the artist curated an exhibition in the Sackler Center for Arts Education on the series, with contributions from Kiki Smith, Norman Foster, and members of the museum-going public. Hear from Cai Guo-Qiang, Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation Director Thomas Krens, and contributing artists Jennifer Wen Ma and Tan Dun about the Everything Is Museum series, the Sackler Center exhibition, and the role of museums in the global cultural landscape.

Gallery Guides
January 2008
Download: "Gallery Guides" (8.4 MB, audio only, 9 min 12 sec)
This podcast takes listeners behind the scenes of the museum's Gallery Guide program, an innovative position that combines museum educators with security personnel. Gallery Guides facilitate discussions about art while protecting the work on display. Hear from Maria Celi, director of visitor services; Georgia Krantz, education program manager; Steve Ursell, director of security; and several gallery guides as to why the program creates a more dynamic, interactive museum experience.

The Gallery Guide program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
