Q: Is there a time when admission is reduced?
A: On Saturday evenings beginning at 5:45 p.m. the museum hosts Pay What You Wish, in which admission is by donation. The last tickets are issued at 7:15 p.m. These tickets are not free and can not be purchased in advance. The museum closes at 7:45 p.m. on Fridays. 

Q: Do I have to purchase admission tickets in advance for special exhibitions?
A: NO. General Admission tickets include all permanent and special exhibitions on view. Tickets are not timed and do not sell out.

 

Q: Are baby strollers or backpacks permitted in the museum?
A: All backpacks, large toddler carriers, double-sided strollers, jogging strollers, large umbrellas, and bags or packages larger than 16 x 16 inches (40 x 40 cm) must be checked. All bags are subject to inspection. Visitors may check these items in the coatroom.


Q: Is photography permitted in the museum?
A: The use of photography (cameras, camera phones, video equipment) and cellular phones is permitted only on the ground floor. Tripods are not permitted anywhere in the museum.


Q: Who can bypass the admissions line?
A: Museum members (including Corporate and Reciprocal), CityPass holders, TicketWeb customers, members of the press (with valid ID), and visitors with Guest Passes may proceed directly to the Membership Desk for expedited ticketing. Elderly or disabled visitors, who are unable to wait on line, may ask a security guard for assistance.


Q: Is there a coatroom?
A: The coatroom is located on the ground floor of the museum. All backpacks, large umbrellas, strollers and bags and packages larger than 16 x 16 inches must be checked in the coatroom. You must present your Admission Ticket prior to checking your belongings.


Q: Are visitors permitted to sketch in the museum?
A: Pencils, sketchbooks, and notebooks are permitted. However, pens, paints, and easels are not permitted.


Q: Is there a place to eat in the museum?
A: The Museum Café is accessible inside the building from the rotunda or outside the building from the corner of Fifth Avenue and 88th Street. 


Q: I am a member of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. What are my privileges at the other Guggenheim museums?
A: Please present your membership card at the Admissions Desk to receive complimentary admission to all Guggenheim museums (the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Deutsche Guggenheim, and the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum).
