General
Operations Grant from the New York State Council on the Arts Provides
Support Across the Museum
The Guggenheim is tremendously thankful
for steadfast support from the New York State Council on the Arts since
1983. In 2013, the council awarded he Guggenheim $82,000 toward
general operations, which affords the museum flexibility to apply
funds toward
direct expenses across a range of projects as needed,
including
exhibitions, education and public programs, conservation,
archival
efforts, and other areas of activity. For example, a
general operating
support grant can help fund special
exhibitions
and collections-based
shows;
learning opportunities for people of all ages in the museum’s Sackler
Center for
Arts Education;
efforts to study and conserve works by Vasily
Kandinsky
and
other artists represented in the permanent collection; digitization
of archival materials for greater public accessibility, and more.
