Guggenheim Museum to Offer Special Holiday Hours on Thursdays December 26 and January 2

(NEW YORK, NY – December 9, 2013) — The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum will offer special holiday hours on Thursdays, December 27 and January 2, from 10 am to 5:45 pm. Normally closed on Thursdays, the museum is opening on two additional days to provide visitors with an opportunity to view the Guggenheim’s current exhibitions, including Christopher Wool, the most comprehensive exploration to date of the American artist’s influential career. The museum is closed for Christmas Day on Wednesday, December 25, and open on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1.
Other exhibitions on view include Robert Motherwell: Early Collages, featuring works from the 1940s and ’50s that examine the artist’s origins and engagement with collage; Lasting Images, which brings together highlights from the museum’s collection of global contemporary art; Participatory City: 100 Urban Trends from the BMW Guggenheim Lab, a digital presentation of themes and ideas that emerged from the BMW Guggenheim Lab and its explorations of urban life in New York, Berlin, and Mumbai; Kandinsky in Paris, 1934–1944, an intimate exhibition of paintings from the last 11 years of Vasily Kandinsky’s life; A Long Awaited Tribute: Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonian House and Pavilion, which comprises exclusively archival material highlighting the first Wright buildings erected in New York City; and the Thannhauser Collection, a selection of canvases, works on paper, and sculptures that represents the earliest works in the museum’s collection.
