Guggenheim Blogs Nominated for Webby
Guggenheim Blogs, the museum’s new blogging hub, has been nominated for a 2013 Webby Award. Featuring writing from the BMW Guggenheim Lab and Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative as well as recurring features produced by museum staff, Guggenheim Blogs gathers together diverse viewpoints and presents them in a dynamic, inviting environment. Its new interface encourages readers to contribute to discussions on topics such as identifying the artist who drew endearing animal sketches and weighing in on the art world’s relationship to “Asia” as a category, and will continue to deploy new features and columns as they are developed. Help the museum win the Peoples Voice Award by voting for Guggenheim Blogs at webbyawards.com.
The Webby nomination, which cites Guggenheim Blogs as one of the year’s five best websites in the Art category, is the latest recognition of the museum’s digital successes. Last year, the BMW Guggenheim Lab website and the app for Maurizio Cattelan: All were honored by the Webbys, and the museum recently won Interactive Media Awards for the sites developed for Art of Another Kind and John Chamberlain: Choices.
Guggenheim Blogs recently began publishing selected posts from Perspectives, the Guggenheim UBS MAP blog, in their original language as part of an ambitious project to present authors’ work in languages other than English. The site is also the new home of the popular series Findings, which showcases serendipitous discoveries made in the Guggenheim’s library and archives. Guggenheim Blogs allows for a richer presentation of the found documents, with higher quality images.
