The Umbrella Shelter is a structure constructed primarily of bamboo and is intended to promote the use of this resource to significantly improve the buildings at look out points over Bolivia´s natural marvels. The proposal for the Umbrella Shelter promotes the utilization of bamboo, while also exploring the technical possibilities of other materials, especially wood and steel (ball and socket joints and gaskets from recycled cars), as well as textiles specially manufactured for this type of covering. The shelter is energy efficiency and is designed to be constructed using sustainable methods. Jose Luis Reque designed the shelter, Marcelo Onofre provided some assistance with the SketchUp program.
