October 1, 2010–January 9, 2011

Atina Grossmann, Professor of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Cooper Union, New York, discusses the rise of the "New Woman" in Weimar Germany and throughout Europe during the interwar period. She considers whether or not there was such a thing as the “New Woman,” what she might have represented, and how she was positioned within society.
