Located on the western shore of Chambers Island, this shelter has to address the typical seasonal changes of Wisconsin to achieve true year-round comfort. Similar to the areas vernacular architecture, this design implements passive solar techniques and also includes operable elements which open to encourage air flow or close to provide insulation. The salvaged barn timber and board-formed concrete exterior is sustainable and provides thermal mass retaining interior air temperatures.
