Hexayurt refugee shelter designed in 2002 at the Rocky Mountain Institute (http://rmi.org). Cuts the cost of long-stay housing for refugees by 10 times (compared to tents.) Can be made from many materials for climate fit: this one is mylar-coated cardboard. Open source and public domain. The shelter is good enough that hundreds of people build their own every year. It has become a standard feature at Burning Man, for instance.
