Published in 1958
30 pages, fully illustrated
Softcover

This publication documents the 1958 Guggenheim International Award, the second installment of a prize established in 1956 "to stimulate interest in contemporary art and in this way encourage the work of artists throughout the world." An international jury awarded $10,000 to a chosen artist; additional awards were conferred to artists by nationality. The winner of the 1958 International Award was Spanish artist Joan Miró, for Day and Night, a ceramic mural designed for the UNESCO building in Paris. The catalogue includes a color foldout reproduction of the mural's component Night and a checklist of participating artists.
