The BMW Guggenheim Lab is a mobile laboratory traveling to cities worldwide. After a dynamic ten-week run in New York, from August 3 to October 16, 2011, the Lab traveled to Berlin, the second stop on its nine-city world tour, where it was open from June 15 to July 29, 2012. It is currently open in Mumbai, where it will operate through January 20, 2013. Subscribe to e-news now for the latest project updates, and follow our Lablog and social media channels: Twitter and #BGLab, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, and FourSquare.
A diverse range of programs will address the theme of the Lab’s first cycle, Confronting Comfort, exploring how to make urban environments more responsive to people’s needs, how to strike a balance between notions of individual versus collective comfort, and how to meet the urgent need for environmental and socialresponsibility.
Led by international, interdisciplinary teams of emerging talents in the areas of urbanism, architecture, art, design, science, technology, education, and sustainability, the BMW Guggenheim Lab will address issues of contemporary urban life through programs and public discourse. Its goal is the exploration of new ideas, experimentation, and ultimately the creation of forward-thinking solutions for urban life.
