How have different voices shaped U.S. History?
Whose voices have shaped history? Whose were not heard? Fourth-grade students at PS 8 considered these questions before creating these painted "dialogue" quilts that feature figures from early U.S. history. While some of these portraits are of powerful individuals whose voices influenced this country's past, others are representations of those who were ignored, or were never given the opportunity to speak.
"We learned about backgrounds and portraits and people and how to draw and paint them with details. Our big project was based on colonial times and all the things we studied."—Fourth-grade student, PS 8
