Please note: All ramps and additional galleries of the museum are currently closed due to the installation of John Chamberlain: Choices, opening on February 24. The admission price is reduced at this time, and advance tickets are not available.

    Teaching Through Art: Strategies for Fostering Creativity

    Tuesdays, March 6, 20, 27, April 3, 24 & May 1, 4:30–6:30 pm

    Learn about art making and interdisciplinary methods proven to improve key areas of students’ creative problem-solving skills. Explore strategies developed by Learning Through Art’s teaching artists that focus on generating multiple ideas, flexibility, and an increased understanding of materials. The workshop will include investigations of art from the Guggenheim collection, demonstrations of methods used to foster and assess creativity and related skills, and guidance in the development of lesson plans related to curriculum goals.

    Teachers of grades 2–12 in all subject areas are invited to apply. $350 includes all sessions and resource materials. Limited scholarships are available. The application deadline is Feb 20. Enrollment is limited to 15 participants. For information call 212 423 3561.

    Tuition

    4:30–7:30 pm
    Stillspotting nyc explores places of contemplation across the city. Following a presentation by David van der Leer, Assistant Curator, Architecture and Urban Studies, participants tour the museum while it is closed to the public to discover its quiet spaces.     This weeklong program for teachers is presented by the Guggenheim, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. $25 registration; $400 includes all sessions, materials, and lunch; limit 40 participants.
