  • Kandinsky: A Close Look
    Friday, January 1 @ 1:00 pm

Grahame Weinbren created Kandinsky: A Close Look, a three-part “anti-documentary” film utilizing custom high-definition technology. Each part focuses on a different 1913 Kandinsky painting in the Guggenheim collection: Painting with White Border, Small Pleasures, and Black Lines. The three films—Essay, Eyetracking, and Synesthesia—provide alternate ways of looking at and thinking about the work of this complex artist. Through a close examination of details, voice-overs, and eye-tracking technology used by medical researchers, viewers are provided enhanced visual tools to trace their own extended journeys through the paintings.

    Running time: 35 minutes
