Slow Fade to Black: Explorations in the Cinematic with filmmakers Lisa Cortés and Shola Lynch

As part of Carrie Mae Weems LIVE: Past Tense/Future Perfect and a companion to Written on Skin: Posing Questions on Beauty, this program considers issues of identity and representation through a cinematic lens. Lisa Cortés, producer of Precious and other films, and Shola Lynch, whose Free Angela and All Political Prisoners won the 2012 Image Award for Outstanding Documentary, preside.

Lisa Cortés is a producer and director who has developed and produced awardwinning films, including Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire. @misscortes

Shola Lynch is an award-winning filmmaker whose documentary CHISHOLM ’72: Unbought & Unbossed (2004) was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards and a Peabody Award. @sholalynch
