Get Out of the Car
The visual rhythms of the cityscape are transformed into mesmerizing meditations on spatial perception in one of North America’s most cinematic cities. Thom Andersen’s film finds inspiration in the horizontality of the Los Angeles and the iconography of its cityscape—the billboards, signs, and facades—often overlooked or disregarded in the vehicular hustle of daily life, all set to a soundtrack of nostalgic fragments.
