R. H. Quaytman’s paintings draw on the abstract, the photographic, and the site-specific to evoke a new grammar for painting. Quaytman organizes her paintings on wood panels into “chapters.” The subject matter of each chapter is determined by the historical, archival, architectural, or social aspects of a specific site.
