Assistant Curator for Collections

Guggenheim curator since 2008

Lauren Hinkson joined the curatorial staff in 2008. She conducts permanent collection research with a focus on modern, contemporary, and time-based art. She also works closely with the museum’s acquisition committees and assists with collection and database management. She has cocurated several collection exhibitions including Surface, Support, Process: The 1960s Monochrome in the Guggenheim Collection; Pop Objects and Icons from the Guggenheim Collection; and Paired, Gold: Felix Gonzalez-Torres and Roni Horn. Recently, she has begun curating presentations of the Guggenheim collection for venues abroad, including the forthcoming exhibition Il Guggenheim: l'Avanguardia americana, 1945–1980 at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, which will open in February 2011. Hinkson graduated from Brown University with a BA in the History of Art and Architecture.
