Joan Young has organized exhibitions by Hugo Boss Prize winners Tacita Dean, Emily Jacir, and Rirkrit Tiravanija for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and curated Phoebe Washburn: Regulated Fool's Milk Meadow, Julie Mehretu: Gray Area, Once Upon a Time: Fantastic Narratives in Contemporary Video, and Gabriel Orozco: Asterisms (cocurated with Nancy Spector) for Deutsche Guggenheim, Berlin. She has also provided curatorial support for the exhibitions Robert Rauschenberg: A Retrospective; The Hugo Boss Prize 1998; Andreas Slominski; Postmedia: Conceptual Photography in the Guggenheim Museum Collection; Lawrence Weiner: NACH ALLES/AFTER ALL; Matthew Barney: The Cremaster Cycle; Moving Pictures: Contemporary Photography and Video from the Guggenheim Museum Collections; Singular Forms (Sometimes Repeated): Art from 1951 to the Present; Douglas Gordon's The VANITY of Allegory; Marina Abramović: Seven Easy Pieces; All in the present must be transformed: Matthew Barney and Joseph Beuys; theanyspacewhatever; and Intervals: Kitty Kraus. Young earned her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and her MA in art history from the University of Texas at Austin.
