Associate Conservator of Contemporary Art

Joanna Phillips joined the Guggenheim’s Conservation Department in 2008. She holds a Master of Paintings Conservation from the Hochschule der Kuenste in Dresden, Germany, and focused on contemporary art conservation as a conservator at the Swiss Institute for Art Research in Zurich. Phillips specializes in technology-based and variable media artworks, with a concentration on video art preservation. She is currently working on defining a standard procedure and vocabulary for the preservation of the Guggenheim’s media collection.
