Assistant Curator, Asian Art

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is seeking an Assistant Curator, Asian Art. As a member of the Curatorial Department, the Assistant Curator, Asian Art is responsible for curatorial research and implementation support for Guggenheim-organized Asian art exhibitions and scholarly publications, including the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation projects; for liaison work with Asian institutions; and for translation and interpretation as necessary.

Associate Curator, Abu Dhabi Project

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation (SRGF) is seeking an Associate Curator. As a member of the Abu Dhabi Project team, the Associate Curator will report to the Deputy Director and Chief Curator, SRGF and the Deputy Director and Chief Officer for Global Strategies, SRGF. The Associate Curator will work in close association with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum’s senior curatorial staff and the staff of TCA (Tourism and Culture Authority) in Abu Dhabi to develop an ambitious international program of pre-opening exhibitions, public programs, focus groups, publications and commissions. The Associate Curator will also participate in acquisition strategy discussions and form part of the Abu Dhabi Project Curatorial Working Group in making acquisition recommendations.

Associate Managing Editor

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is seeking an Associate Managing Editor. As a member of the Publishing and Digital Media Department, the Associate Managing Editor will create all publication and multimedia text schedules, including those for the Collection Online. The Associate Managing Editor is responsible for overseeing the assignment of editors to review exhibition-related materials, education content, miscellaneous ephemera and multimedia content as well as manage freelance contractors for writing, editing, translation and proofreading tasks related to these materials. The person in the role will also perform general publishing tasks for the department, including editorial content updates in content management systems and general administrative duties.

Curator of Education and Community Outreach, Abu Dhabi Project

As a senior member of the Abu Dhabi Project team, the Curator of Education and Community Outreach will work in close alignment with the SRGF Education, Curatorial and Senior representative in Abu Dhabi and the Education and Project Management Units of the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority and others as appropriate to research, develop, and pilot/implement audience and education strategies and programs and to support in preparation for the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum’s opening in 2017 and beyond.

Digital Media Content Editor

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is seeking a Digital Media Content Editor for the Publishing and Digital Media Department. The Digital Media Content Editor will oversee the Guggenheim Museum’s multimedia content: lead the content development for the museum’s app; edit exhibition materials and general information for the Guggenheim app; work closely with authors and curators to craft and edit audio scripts; create all multimedia text schedules; manage and execute content entry for digital collection materials and assist with collection editing; update content in TMS and proprietary app CMS; assist project editors on exhibition and catalogue-related materials as well as e-books; manage freelance contractors.

Education Associate, Public Programs

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is seeking an Education Associate, Public Programs. As a member of the Education Department, the Education Associate, Public Programs is responsible for the management of public programs related to the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Funded Commissions including the Annual Lecture, artist/performance projects, symposium/academic events, workshops, courses, tours, and multimedia tour app education content. As a member of the Education Department, and in collaboration with the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative staff, the Education Manager, Digital Media & Online Learning is responsible for conceptualizing, managing and evaluating learning initiatives that will promote and sustain meaningful audience engagement and expansion worldwide through the Guggenheim website, social networks and other digital/mobile technologies. Gallery Guides

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is seeking Gallery Guides. Gallery Guides serve a dual role as both security guard and art educator. They are responsible for the security and safety of the artwork and of visitors, and for actively encouraging visitors to discuss their questions and ideas about art. They are trained and certified in compliance with New York State Certification regulations, and trained as a gallery educator to the standards of the museum’s Education department. They are required to attend and actively participate in all trainings (paid) in security guard procedures, education techniques and exhibition content. As frontline staff, they are required to maintain a welcoming and professional attitude towards visitors and staff at all times. Annual performance evaluations will be conducted jointly by the Managing Director and Counsel for Administration and the Senior Education Manager, Adult and Access Programs.

Manager, Media Arts

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is seeking a Manager, Media Arts. The Manager, Media Arts specializes in the installation of artworks that employ video, audio, film, computers, and any other type of electronic media. Primary responsibilities include the planning for and oversight of successful installations and proper maintenance of multi-media artworks on public display, maintenance of equipment inventory, preparation of diagrams for installation in NY and other venues, and identification and purchase of appropriate equipment for artworks. The Manager of Media Arts will be responsible for hiring and supervising crews and specialists working on exhibition installations, creating budgets, and travel to other venues as necessary.
