Assistant Chief Engineer

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Assistant Chief Engineer is a member of a team responsible for ensuring that all building facilities and systems (e.g., heating and air conditioning, lighting, electricity, plumbing, and general building maintenance) required for the operation of the museum buildings are in good working order and running properly to maintain museum conditions. This is achieved through constant monitoring and inspection of all building systems (building engineers are on watch around the clock). The Assistant Chief Engineer will also perform an important quality assurance function.

Assistant Production Manager

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is seeking an Assistant Production Manager, who will be responsible for assisting with print production for all exhibition catalogues, the Guggenheim guide, retail products, and digital image production for both multimedia guides and the online collection. The ideal candidate for this position will have strong communication and organizational skills, work well in a team environment and must have a keen eye for detail in order to produce fine art publications and related digital media content. Curator for Urban Studies and Digital Initiatives

The Guggenheim is now looking to hire a Curator for Urban Studies and Digital Initiatives, who can further articulate and advance the museum’s mission to be an agent of social good through its rich array of public programming, both on and off-site and on-line. The new curator will devise a plan for developing the museum’s engagement with urban studies, technology, architecture, and design beyond what has already been so successfully accomplished. This will require a vision that looks beyond traditional exhibition programming to more discursive models such as think tanks, public forums, online content development, and the establishment of rich networks for intellectual exchange around the world.

Director of Media and Public Relations

The Director of Media and Public Relations plans and implements strategic media relations, communications, and other outreach efforts for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation (SRGF), the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (SRGM), and global cultural initiatives originated by SRGF. Working with the Deputy Director and Chief of Global Communications, the Director leads the media and public relations strategy for SRGM and contributes to the overall strategy for SRGF. The position also provides counsel and advice across the organization. High-priority internal clients include the Director’s Office, Curatorial, Development, Education Legal and Visitor Services. The primary goal of the position is to raise overall visibility of SRGM and SRGF to enhance reputation, audience development, donor support, and membership. The position works in collaboration with the communications staff at the Guggenheim Bilbao and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. In the future, this position also will work with staff at the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.

Gallery Guides

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is seeking Gallery Guides. Gallery Guides serve a dual role as both security guard and art educator. They are responsible for the security and safety of the artwork and of visitors, and for actively encouraging visitors to discuss their questions and ideas about art. They are trained and certified in compliance with New York State Certification regulations, and trained as a gallery educator to the standards of the museum’s Education department. They are required to attend and actively participate in all trainings (paid) in security guard procedures, education techniques and exhibition content. As frontline staff, they are required to maintain a welcoming and professional attitude towards visitors and staff at all times. Annual performance evaluations will be conducted jointly by the Managing Director and Counsel for Administration and the Senior Education Manager, Adult and Access Programs.
