Image Licensing

The Guggenheim licenses images of art from its collections, including installation views of exhibitions, architectural views of buildings, and historical material.

Images of Work in the Collection

Licensing of images of work in Guggenheim collections is managed by Art Resource. Please visit their site to request images and inquire about fees. If there is no image online of the collection work you are looking for, write licensing@guggenheim.org to request that it be photographed. New photography requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Upon approval, additional fees will apply.

Images of Exhibitions or Architecture

The Guggenheim manages licensing for images of exhibitions and architectural photographs of its buildings. To license these images, use the menus at left to browse by architecture or exhibition.

Reprint Requests

Requests for permission to reprint text from Guggenheim publications should be sent to reprintrequest@guggenheim.org.

Scholarly Publishing Image Requests

Through the Images for Academic Publishing (IAP) program hosted by ARTstor Digital Library, the Guggenheim provides a selection of publication-quality images free of charge for scholarly publications. Under a limited license, these images may be in journal articles, small print-run publications (up to 2000 copies), electronic reference materials, and classroom materials. Scholars at participating ARTstor institutions can access the images through the ARTstor Digital Library. Scholars not affiliated with an ARTstor subscribing institution can request temporary access to the collection by e-mailing licensing@guggenheim.org or iap@artstor.org.
