Previous licensing projects

Designtex

For the past five years, the Guggenheim has been involved in a unique collaboration with the leading design and product development firm Designtex, producing an innovative cobranded line of textiles and wall coverings for commercial, hospitality, and residential environments. Using the museum's celebrated art collection as inspiration, Designtex has created a cutting-edge collection that represents the highest standards of design excellence and utilizes the latest in textile technology and environmentally responsible materials.

Visconti

The Guggenheim is proud to partner with Visconti, a world leader in the design and manufacture of luxury writing instruments based in Florence, Italy. To inaugurate our collaboration, the company’s founder and central creative force, Dante Del Vecchio, has designed a pen in honor of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum’s 50th anniversary. The design is based on the concentric spiral of the Frank Lloyd Wright building and incorporates the finest craftsmanship and most sophisticated technology in the industry today. This limited edition pen will be released for sale in the fall of 2009. For more information on this pen and on future releases contact Ken Jones, National Sales Manager, 718 305 7201 or visit www.Visconti.it.

U.S. Postal Service

In 2003 the Guggenheim was honored to be included in “Masterworks of Modern American Architecture,” a set of first class postage stamps issued by the United States Postal Service. The stamp featured an image of the museum’s skylight which is a licensed trademark of the Guggenheim Foundation.

Megara

This original lamp design by Australian industry giant Megara was released in the summer of 2008 and has already won two design awards in the Asian-Pacific region. A tribute to Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpiece, it is the second in a series of architecturally-inspired lamps; the third, currently in progress, will be based on Frank Gehry’s landmark design for the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The lamp is available through the Guggenheim Museum Store and online store.
