In 2013, two Guggenheim Abu Dhabi: Talking Art Series, on May 6–8 and November 20–23, comprising public panels, screenings, workshops, and demonstrations by leading contemporary artists will share the curatorial vision of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. Several of the curatorial narratives forming the structure of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will be explored including Popular Culture and the Mediated Image; System, Process, Concept; and History, Memory, Narrative.
In May, the series featured El Anatsui, Adel El-Siwi, Feng Mengbo, Youssef Nabil, and James Rosenquist. The November series is expected to welcome another international array of artists whose works are in the permanent collection of Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
Representing different generations and nationalities, the artists selected for the series reflect the fundamentally transnational perspective on art history being advanced by the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, which acknowledges the dynamics of art making across geographies and different moments in time.
