Runo Lagomarsino

b. 1977, Lund, Sweden | lives and works in São Paulo

Runo Lagomarsino was born in Scandinavia to Argentinian parents descended from Italian émigrés who fled Europe during the First World War; his biography thus charts the very colonial histories that his work examines. ContraTiempos (2010) documents the findings of his wanderings under the Marquise, a concrete canopy that connects the different buildings in São Paulo’s Ibirapuera Park. Finding shapes that resemble the silhouette of South America in the cracks of the Marquise’s pathways, Lagomarsino photographed the chance continental formations and displays the images as a slideshow.
